As a successful member of the community, Shrieve feels we have a
responsibility to help those that are less fortunate and contribute to the
common good. Investing in the community
is a great way to give back to those who have helped support your business.
Volunteer groups and non-profit organizations do so much to help the
communities that all of us are a part of, but they can't do it alone.
As an example, for the last three years Shrieve employees have participated in the YMCA Dragon Boat Races , a fund-raising effort by the YMCA to help those children in the area that can't afford swimming lessons, or that can't afford to participate in sports.
Shrieve was a Platinum Sponsor for the Oil & Gas Charity Golf Classic benefiting the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) . The event raised $130,000 this year.
Shrieve was also a Platinum Sponsor for His Grace Foundation's Charitable Golf Tournament , benefiting the Bone Marrow Transplant Unit of Texas Children's Hospital. Jim Coffey, Shrieve's CFO, has been organizing this tournament for 13 years.
This year Jack Weaverling, Senior Vice President, joined a team of 20 bikers in California and raised over $50,000 for the MS Society for his friend Gordon Eansor who is in his early 40's and can no longer move his arms and legs.
For the last several years, Shrieve has sponsored the Waller County Fair Association Calf Scramble, which benefits the children of Waller County. This year we increased our sponsorship to the Silver level with the profits of the county fair going to scholarship funds and seniors of Waller County.
Also, in lieu of sending holiday gifts or cards, Shrieve employees collect donations (which the company matches dollar-for-dollar) to donate to the Montgomery County Food Bank .
