Our standard ZEROL® PAG range are fully formulated ISO grade ‘single end-capped’ polyalkylene glycol lubricants designed specifically for application with R134a refrigerant in mobile air conditioning systems.

There are a wide range of PAG oils available, particularly for the service/refill market, with significant variance in quality and type. The Zerol PAG lubricant range are a high quality range of fully formulated AC compressor oils designed for use in automotive r134s systems. They comply fully with the auto AC compressor OEM standards for r134a compressor oils, but are a more affordable aftermarket option for those seeking PAG oil for AC r134a compressors. The Zerol range are available in ISO viscosity grades 46, 100 and 150 (PAG 46, PAG 100 and PAG 150).

R134a refrigerant systems

R134a is an HFC type refrigerant which has been used globally in both stationary and automotive R134a systems. Until the recent development of more environmentally friendly refrigerant options for vehicle AC systems such as CO2 and HFOs, R134a has been the almost exclusive choice of refrigerant gas for the compression of R134a in automotive AC systems.

Similarly, the use of PAG oil has been the almost exclusive preference of AC compressor oil for such systems and is broadly recommended by all primary compressor and vehicle OEMs for R134a. Polylalkylene glycol is widely recognised as the optimum technology for R134a AC system efficiency and hence PAG lubricant dominates this market and continues to do so as newer more environmentally refrigerants become adopted.

These fully synthetic lubricants are a cost-effective option for aftermarket applications where top-up of the existing system employing PAG lubricant is required during servicing.

For OEM fill of R134a auto AC compressors the typical choice, and very often a requirement of the compressor OEM, is a dicapped PAG lubricant such as the RFL-X range.

The Zerol PAG lubricant range offers a cost-effective option for aftermarket applications, they comply fully with the original OEM requirements for PAG lubricant, and also the Zerol PAG oils are entirely compatible for use with all OEM required first-fill Pag oils which have been utilised in the market. Zerol PAG oils therefore offer a reliable, cost-effective service oil option wherever a PAG oil is utilised as the AC compressor oil.

ZEROL® PAGs lubricants will continue to offer a cost-effective option for aftermarket applications where top-up of the existing system employing PAG lubricant is required during servicing and during R134a (HFC) refrigerant phase-down.

Zerol PAGs will continue to offer the cost cost-effective option for aftermarket applications where servicing of R134a vehicle AC systems is required. For refill or replacement of the compressor oil in R134a vehicle AC systems the Zerol PAG range provides an affordable but reliable and OEM compliant AC PAG compressor oil.

Did you know?

PAGs are hygroscopic and need to be handled carefully. However, a correctly installed PAG lubricant into a hermetic system has the ability to absorb a degree of water contamination and hold it in suspension, thereby reducing the risk of corrosion from free water being present within the system. Ester based lubricants can react with water to form acids that do present an increased risk of system corrosion.
