PROGILINE® GAS COMPRESSOR LUBRICANTS
Shrieve’s PROGILINE® Gas Compressor Lubricants, are a range of high-performance synthetic gas compressor lubricants lubricants based upon polyalkylene glycol technology of the water soluble and Water Insoluble (WI type), and have been developed for hydrocarbon and chemical gas processing compressors.
Unlike mineral oils, polyalphaolefins (PAOs) and Rust & Oxidation (R&O mineral) prevention oils, PROGILINE® gas compressor lubricants are not easily absorbed into the gas stream and therefore lubricant dilution is minimized.
High resistance to gas dilution of the gas compressor lubricant ensures proper lubricant viscosity is maintained, thereby ensuring adequate oil film thickness and efficient compressor lubrication.
PAG based synthetic gas compressor lubricants offer significant advantages over their mineral oil counterparts, especially if the compressor is handling ‘wet’ hydrocarbon gas streams.

WHAT RANGES OF PROGILINE® GAS COMPRESSOR LUBRICANTS DO SHRIEVE PROVIDE?
Shrieve provides a number of PROGILINE® gas compressor lubricants that are available in a range of viscosity grades to offer you the best lubricants for your gas compressor. Our main range are:
● PROGILINE® LPG-WS
● PROGILINE® LPG-WI
● PROGILINE RL-WS
● PROGILINE® RL-WI
We provide gas compressor lubricant solutions for different types of gas compressors including reciprocating, screw and rotary gas compressors, with optimised products according to a particular gas stream composition.
GAS COMPRESSORS HAVE DIFFERENT REQUIREMENTS
Compressor lubricants are designed to support the lubrication of compressor components. This ensures they run smoothly for longer periods of time, operating at a high reliable level, saving you on maintenance costs for the long term. We understand that each gas compressor is different and gas stream compositions vary, with each requiring a different type of lubricant, so we recommend getting in contact with us to help select the best gas compressor lubricants for your requirements.
PROGILINE LPG-WS range gas compressor lubricants are water soluble and designed for enclosed pattern hydrocarbon and chemical gas compressors where the crankcase and bearings operate in a gas-filled environment. PROGILINE LPG-WS synthetic lubricants are available in a wide viscosity range and offer the following advantages:
- Reduced gas solubility leading to extended lubricant life, improved compressor efficiency, reduced foaming and improved wear protection
- Wide range of gas compatibility including vinyl chloride and butadiene
- Lowers inventory costs by avoiding change to mineral oil for butadiene, which could lead to mis-application.
These lubricants should NOT be mixed with mineral, PAO or R&O oils and a complete drain, flush and refill is required prior to use. The PROGILINE LPG-WI series are water insoluble and available in four viscosity grades - VG 68, 100, 150 and 220. They are particularly suitable for use with heavy gases (density > 1.5 kg/m3). In addition to premium PAG base oil, PROGILINE LPG-WI are additised to:
- Ensure long service life
- Excellent wear protection
- Corrosion resistance (particularly in consideration of hydrogen sulphide gas content)
- High thermal and oxidation resistance.
These high-performance lubricants are designed for use in screw, piston and rotary vane compressors handling a variety of chemical and hydrocarbon gases. These lubricants should NOT be mixed with mineral, PAO or R&O oils and a complete drain, flush and refill is required prior to use. Shrieve PROGILINE RL-WI series are water-insoluble polyalkylene glycol-based gas compressor lubricants with distinctive additives for use in reciprocating, screw, and rotary compressors for hydrocarbon process gas chillers in Refrigeration Lubrication application.
PROGILINE RL-WI lubricants are particularly suitable for use with propane and propene chiller systems.
They are a precise synthesis of premium PAG base oil and sophisticated additives to ensure long service life, excellent wear protection, and high thermal and oxidation resistance.
PROGILINE RL-WI lubricants are available in three viscosity grades: ISO VG 68, 100 and 150 to meet the design requirements of both reciprocating and screw compressors.
As with all of the PAG-based PROGILINE gas compressor lubricants, PROGILINE RL-WI should NOT be mixed with mineral, PAO or R&O oils and a complete drain, flush and refill is required prior to use.
