BIO-BASE® base fluids utilize a number of synthetic and hydrocarbon chemistries that deliver a range of performance benefits, including low aromatic contents, excellent kinematic viscosities, low pour points, and improved occupational hygiene profiles, as well as enhanced biodegradability and marine toxicology.
An internal olefin with a carbon chain length between C15 and C18 that is ideal for both deepwater and shelf drilling environments. BIO-BASE 100 LF degrades under both aerobic and anaerobic conditions, is non-toxic in water column toxicity testing, and has low sediment toxicity. BIO-BASE 100 LF has a low viscosity and pour point and is ideal as a drilling fluid base fluid in environmentally sensitive areas of the world.
BIO-BASE 100 LF meets or exceeds all US EPA Gulf of Mexico nonaqueous-based drilling fluid stock limitation requirements as specified in 77 FR No. 196, pg. 61605.
A linear alpha olefin with a carbon chain length between C16 and C18 that is well-suited for shelf applications and helps reduce the risks associated with offshore discharge. It biodegrades in both aerobic and anaerobic conditions, is non-toxic in the water column, and has low sediment toxicity. BIO-BASE 200 has a low viscosity and performs as well as or better than traditional oil-based fluids.
A linear paraffin with a carbon chain length between C11 and C14 that is well-suited for land-based applications. It biodegrades aerobically and is non-toxic in the water column. BIO-BASE 300 has a low viscosity and pour point and performs as well as or better than mineral oil based fluids.
The BIO-BASE 300 series of products are part of a standard paraffin and specially formulated paraffin series of drilling fluids. They are well suited for on and offshore operations where biodegradability and low toxicity are crucial. They are absent of PAH and BTEX fluids and are designed to replace diesel or low-toxicity mineral oils (LTMO) in drilling fluids.
A blend of predominantly linear paraffins and unsaturated products made in an ethylene oligomerization process. It is a true synthetic fluid with a zero aromatic and a zero PAH content that is well-suited for land-based applications. BIO-BASE 365 has a low viscosity and pour point and performs as well as or better than mineral oil based fluids. It is an excellent fluid to replace diesel or LTMO in the formulation of aromatic-free gelled pills.
BIO-BASE 365 can be used in mud formulations with a high S/W ratio of 60/40 and is also effective to use in the formulation of emulsifiers or other products requiring clean carrier fluids. BIO-BASE 365 can also be used as the carrier fluid in guar slurries where a clean, BTEX free solvent is required.
A synthetic drilling base fluid, designed for multiple applications, and derived from natural gas through a gas-to- liquids (GTL) process. It provides excellent performance as a drilling fluid and has a favorable environmental profile. BIO-BASE 625 has a low viscosity to provide better equivalent circulating density, faster drilling rates, and improved hole cleaning efficiency. It has a relatively flat rheological profile over a wide temperature range to provide better mud control. BIO-BASE 625 can be used in high-pressure-high-temperature (HPHT) environments with temperature stability up to 400°F (204°C).
A low viscosity, colorless solvent with a low aromatics content and a mild odor. It is effective for use as a base fluid for slurries and suspensions for stimulation and drilling applications.
