BIOCIDE CHEMISTRY FOR BACTERIA CONTROL
Shrieve offers a number of biocides that are based on DBNPA, Dazomet, Glutaraldehyde, and THPS chemistries. They find application throughout the oilfield in stimulation fluids, drilling fluids, workover or completion fluids, water treatment, waterflood, pipeline and tank maintenance.
Contamination from bacteria is a common problem in the oilfield. Bacteria can form under a range of different environmental conditions, and biocides are available to treat these. General categories cover sulfate-reducing bacteria, slime-forming bacteria, iron-oxidizing bacteria, and bacteria that arise from the action on polymers in frac-fluids. Water-based muds commonly contain gum and starch components that are also vulnerable to bacterial action.
Some biocides are toxic and are controlled by environmental legislation. It is important to know how and where they are to be applied as this will dictate which products are available.
A 24% active solution of Tetrahydro-3,5-dimethyl-2H-1,3,5-thiadiazine-2-thione that is an effective, broad spectrum antimicrobial agent for stimulation fluids, drilling fluids, workover or completion fluids, water treatment, waterflood, and pipeline and tank maintenance applications. It provides a long term kill and is effective against aerobic and anaerobic bacteria (including SRB) and acid producing bacteria.
